八重のクリスマスローズ

去年ＵＰできなかった八重のクリスマスローズです。
あまり明るい雰囲気の花ではありません。ひたすら濃い小豆色といいますか、そんな色で八重でさいています。葉の色も花の色に同調して小豆色っぽいものです。
なぜこの花を題材に選んだのでしょうか？たぶんほかには描きたい花が咲いていなかったのでしょうね。でも結構好きな花です。そして結構よい点をいただきました。

たしか課題は花の構造などを示すために輪切りをしたり、雌しべや雄しべなども詳細に描く必要がありました。

弁慶草とガーリック

作品提出にむけて描いたものの一枚です。
ちょうど画像がみつかったものですからＵＰいたします。
コースが終わりましたら、整理整頓きちんと順を追ってＵＰしたいと思っていますが、
とりあえずです。
晩秋のガーデンは殺風景で、この弁慶草くらいしかさいていません。そしてこの弁慶草の花のいろも夏のピンクから秋色に変身していました。
ちょっぴり寂しい感じですが、個人的には好きな色です。では２０１３年の我が家のガーデンの色、
おたのしみください。
後ろのほうの薄紫の花は野生のガーリックです。これもまた寂しそうな色。下のほうには源平菊です。咲くほどに白からピンクに変わっていきます。

トルコギキョウとケイトウ

ボタニカルアートのコースも23か月以上終わりました。

もうすぐ最後の3つの作品を提出したらおしまいです。

ちゃんとできたかよりも終了するのが大変なコースです。

この夏の描いたものですが、もう一つ力のない作品でしたので

提出はできませんでしたが、久々にブログにＵＰいたします。

最終的にはこのケイトウとニラの花のほうを提出しました。

This is a truly accomplished piece of work, Naoko, with excellent color and some incredibly fine detail. The composition is excellent and you have used the Celosa stems to good advantage, (choosing?) all their texture and colors. Just be careful not to outline stems on the side. (Jump??) the light source, but let them bleed away more gently to give a rounded appearance and three dimensional quality.

The soft pinks and equally soft and gentle greens have been relieved by some very well balanced darker tones so that the whole picture is harmonious - it would look good and restful hanging in a bedroom wall! Well done Naoko - I look forward to seeing your Diploma work next year.

Be careful to remove all pencil marks.



四課、いろいろな花

そして、二枚目と三枚目のいろいろな花です。このちょっと不気味な色になってしまったカラリリー、すきなのか、思わず描いてしまいましたが、なんだか硬い感じです。それと赤つめ草はあまりふさわしくなかったかもしれません。ワイルドフラワーは別の課で描かなければいけないようです。が　個人的には、こういう花にひきつけられます。

ガーベラの色は結構よいような気がします。なんだかかわいらしいピンクというか、オレンジというか中間色です。ユリはトルコユリといいますか、後ろに丸まっていて結構形をとるのが難しく感じました。その他、アジサイ、ダリア、バラ、シュウメイギクなどなど。

英国ボタニカルアーティスト協会通信講座 第４課

　　通信講座の第四課は、いろいろな花を描く練習です。７つの異なる花を一番よいと思える位置においてかく練習です。描いた花は主に家のガーデンで咲いていたものです。このごろは提出しなくてはと．．．思うとなんだか緊張して思い切り描けません。これはよくありません。すき放題描くのが私流かと思いますが。

花だけを描くのは、バランスが悪いような気がします。グリーンのない花だけを描くことの難しさを知りました。画用紙に描いて、それを見て美しいと感じられないと詰まりません。これを考えると、今回の課題は失敗していると思います。

二ヶ月ある期間中、一月分は夏の休暇やその他で忙しく花を描く時間が取れませんでした。そのため約３週間しか時間がなく、これも失敗の原因かと思います。言い訳はともかく、四枚描きました。提出しました一枚は映像をとるの忘れてしまいました。次回のアップデートのときに、先生のコメントとともに掲載いたします。
まずは一枚目です。

英国ボタニカルアーティスト協会通信講座第３課の提出結果

プロの目とはすごいものですね。インストラクターに教えていただけるのですが、一対一でおしえていただけたらなぁ．．．と思いました。
今回のインストラクターのＭｓ. Eileen Maddison はとても丁寧に採点シートを書いてくださっています。
掲載するのが恥ずかしい点数ですが、ここは正直に。今回は８．４１でした。

以下にコメントを転載いたします。

1. You chose your leaves very well. There is a wide variety of shapes & textures, & they are well drawn.

2. The leaf outlines are well painted, & I particularly like the decorative outline of the Arum. Long stems are difficult, especially when they have a tendency to twist or curl, like the Arum & Hosta. You could improve the appearance of these two stems by neatening up their edges. The long Hosta stem should look strong.

3. Form & structure is quite clear on most of the leaves, but the Tradescantia, although well drawn, needs more contrasting tones to give a 3-demensional appearance.

4.Tone on the Magnolia leaf if very good. you have captured the dark glossy surface and bright highlights. Some lighter tone on the Pelargonium, especially on the nearer edge, would have livened it up, & the Tradescantia leaves have almost no variation subject in a  good light.

5.There is a good range of greens from the bluishi Hosta to the yellowish green Dandelion. The clours of the Paeony blend well. However I feel that  the Pelargonium could be a brighter green, &
the edges of this leaf look too dull.

6 This is a lively & imaginitive composition. The Arum is well placed in the center, where its strong stem line & decorative outlines pull the eye in. The right hand side is a bit fussy as four plants are superimposed, and the long stem of the Tradescantia unfortunately runs along the edge of the Magnolia as if it was attached! On the whole however, you have done very well.

7. Detail has been well observed & accurately drawn. Veining on the Paeony leaves is well done.

8. Your technique is careful & well controlled. Try starting with light washes, building up the tone when the first wash is dry. This would be agood way to deal with a Pelargonium leaf, & any other leaf with distinct patches of colour. Add essential small details & crisp up edges of leaves & stems as a final touch.

9. Your work is neatly presented.

10. Labeling clearly written.

ボタニカルアートを勉強されている方にちょっとでも参考になりお役に立てたらうれしいです。スペルが間違っているところがあると思いますが、原稿が手書きですので私の読み違えにちがいありません。
